Amazing views and enjoyable climb - was quite challenging in places with chains installed to help you climb up and down so good level of fitness required. Really fun for those looking for an adventure and spotted some fabulous birds including Fantails and a bellbird! Took us nearly four hours there and back from Whaanga Road Car Park to Lookout.

Worth a visit althought slightly out of the way. Not really a must do with crazy amazing views, but an enjoyable hike for those who like tramping! Took us 2 hours to the lookout with a break or two in between, and 1 hour more to the summit. Total of 5 hours return. Fron the other end, it took a passerby 1hour 50minutes to the summit. Some areas are slippery and need a bit of climbing, but I find those really fun. Bring lots of water to keep hydrated!

Great walk but do take water with you. This is a lot of up and down hill work so fitness is needed. Fantastic views and great kiwi bush, a lot of bird life around and interesting plants as well. On a hot day it is a fear workout so as I said take lots of drinking water and enjoy.

Rolling hills above the beautiful Raglan coast turn into steep climbs with chains, ladders, mud and scrambling. It’s a difficult but rewarding walk. If you have knee issues you’ll be in pain probably. Yay. No toilet at the car park nor anywhere along the track. Limited spaces at the base of the track as it’s also a viewpoint. Plenty of wildlife to see, gorgeous views. Gets a bit windy at the top and steep edges along the ridge. Took us six hours return with a 10 min stop at the viewpoint an hour before the top of the ridge, and 10 mins at the top.

Awesome hike. Takes about 2 hours (one way) up to the lookout, another hour to Karioi summit. There's a good amount of shade most of the way but there's a fairly exposed section 1/3 the way up. There are some really cracking scrambling sections with chains on the scetchy parts to climb up. Definitely reccomend decent shoes/ boots and plenty of water & snacks. Loved it.

Awesome walk in summer, make sure you have plenty of water and a reasonable level of fitness. Some considerably challenging sections but we'll equipped with chains. As stated by others if you have bad knees the descent will be nice and painful ☺️

So good! Got to summit and back comfortably in 5 hours. Stopped to enjoy the lookout around 1/2 way. Highly recommend heading to summit if you have time. It is a bit technical - chains ladders and moments of climbing in the forest… but we’ll worth the panoramic views at the top!

Defiantly worth the trek for amazing views of the Tasman Sea and Waikato. I took the southern Wairake track to the summit which is shorter and less exposed. I in no way consider myself fit but it took me 2.5 to reach the summit and an hour to track back down. It was pretty tough, but plenty of breaks and water will do. Bring a lunch for the top - it’s worth it!
